I have known Sheriff Butch Conway for a long time and I am extremely proud to call him my friend. Beginning with his service to the Gwinnett Police Department more than 30 years ago, Butch has dedicated his life to protecting those around him. As Gwinnett began to boom, Butch was the right man to grow the sheriff's office to adequately meet the increasing demands of the community. He led the expansion of the jail, established a top notch fugitive task force, implemented many different beneficial initiatives for Gwinnett residents and has steadfastly protected our county administrative buildings, which include my office and staff. There are many good things to say about Butch's service and we are fortunate to have him at the helm of the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office. We would be equally fortunate to have him there for another term.

Gwinnett is a vibrant community where "live, work, and play" is more than just a tag line; it is a way of life. It is also a community that has attracted international attention and continues to move toward a beneficial global presence. With all of this incredible excitement going on, our county's public safety has never been more important. Any great place is only as great as the level of safety perceived by those who live and work in that area. Sheriff Conway is recognized among his peers as an excellent leader and the reputation of his department is indicative of that. Moreover, he has demonstrated the ability to react quickly, efficiently and effectively to issues that threaten our way of life in an adverse manner. It is comforting to know that Sheriff Conway continues to monitor this sometimes treacherous landscape for the safety of our homes and families.

Operation One Voice was born out of the ashes of the attacks on 9/11; police officers, deputies and firefighters from Gwinnett County standing together in support of fallen and wounded Special Operations Forces families. Sheriff Conway and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office stood up as volunteer partners with Operation One Voice; in 2005 deputies laced up their running shoes to join firefighters, police officers and military Special Operators for the first Special Operations Forces Run. 2016 will mark the 12th Special Operations Forces Run and the 10th Honor Ride cycling that Gwinnett County deputies have participated in these two events honoring fallen warriors. At no cost to the county government, off-duty deputies and reserve deputy volunteer to run, cycle and provide escort. As both event teams are comprised of officers from various agencies including Federal, state and local law enforcement as well as special operators; networking and relationship building!

I unequivocally endorse Sheriff Butch Conway for Gwinnett County Sheriff. As a 45 year law enforcement veteran who's served as Chief for the last 22 years, I have worked with 10 sheriffs throughout my career. None have been as open, approachable and helpful as Butch Conway. He is the best sheriff I know and we must re-elect him.
